So what is to stop someone like goons from placing a 10 billion isk bounty on someone they dislike, which pays out with 50 billion ISK in ship and implant losses, then restarting the bounty again, until the person they have set the bounty on has had their assets completely wiped out?
I don't see how that's different than just ganking him over and over without the bounty? Ganking costs you sec status and is considered a criminal act.
You still fail to see how this is different? |

Placing a bounty on someone's head for real certainly is a crime.
And remote repping, which causes no damage, willl soon make you suspect under CrimeWatch2.
So why is placing a bounty not a crime when it is compared to ganking? Why the twisted moral here? |

So I can place a bounty onto every new EVE player and to grief them, and I have the chance of seeing my ISKs return after I made them quit?
Is this correct?

Is this the beginning of the end for NPC bounties? (For example, to reduce the ISK wells and sinks in the game and also as a means to fight botting.)
Are you planning to generate ISKs in some other ways in the future and to replace ratting as a source for ISK? (For example, using sov mechanics to "print" ISKs and thus requiring the work of many players for new ISKs to come into the game.) |

Players will make as much ISKs as possible to buy PLEX and to keep their accounts open. Then they will use whatever is left of their ISKs to buy ships and equipment. After this will some players try to invest their ISKs into the markets and to make a profit. Only then, when they still have a few ISKs left over, will they use it in bounties.
Do you still fear bounties? |

Flios Bror wrote:I have read the first 10 pages, but I haven't seen this answered yet: Will it be possible to place a bounty on NPC-corps ? This was answered somewhere in there.
The answer is: no, NPC corps cannot have bounties.
One can place a bounty on individual pilots of NPC corps. |

Sturmwolke wrote:Just highlighting a case scenario, a minimum 75-100mil bounty on a person will pretty much means that there will be no AFK travels in frigates/interceptors or anything that will melt from a dessie in a 0.5 system. The state of the current game is such, there are gankers with -10 sec metagaming this regularly (even in a 1.0 system), targeting afk frigates and pods. A typical pod (for the less PVP inclined players) has a pretty high chance of carrying implants worth at least 500mil. So, pretty much, to claim 20% of 500mil only costs a dessie loss (and a noob frigate for the pod). Sec status is irrelevant.
While not an issue per se, it gets annoying not being able to AFK autopilot to destinations in a timely manner (aka not using cruiser hulls or above) when you've got a PERPETUAL red bull's eye painted on you. Bounties need to have an expiry period and associated costs to extend them, just like insurance. It reminds me of a monkey who is peeling a banana. |

But you would only have that if you podded someone in low sec, or agressed in high sec, both actions fairly easy to avoid..it is your choice... What is your point? One does not get bounties for podding a pilot in high-sec?
The dev blog says:
"Note that bounties are paid out for anything that creates a kill report, so youGÇÖll get bounty paid for destroying for instance a POS belonging to a corporation that has a bounty placed on it."
This tells me a bounty will be paid no matter what. |

I am making a prediction. Because the two only ways to remove a bounty is to:
a) Participate in PvP and lose a ship/pod/POS. b) Unsubscribe and wait for the bounty to be returned.
will it lead to more players using multiple accounts.
When one account gets a too high bounty will players let the subscription run out so that it losses the bounty while continuing with their other account. The number of alt accounts will rise, but the behaviour of the players will remain the same. |

Seriously? Who in EVE cares?!? It gets ripped out of the player by any means necessary. It is called ganking!!
Once you get a bounty do you let the subscription run out and use another account for it. You don't biomass! You simply use two accounts and only activate one at a time. PLEX is your friend.
CCP Soundwave's idea of a player self-justice is really only an excuse not to care for the morale values, which a game is supposed to give a player. Good games aid young people and prepare them for life. This has always been at the core of many good games. Some games are just not good and we play them anyway and make them good by how we play them. It is what allows children to see castles where we only see sand in a box.
Allowing players to put bounties on everyone is going to be fun. Not because it is good, but because it is bad. We get a laugh out of it and move on. Others will try to dodge them, because they cannot laugh and are still young. I believe it would be better with a restriction (such as requiring a negative sec status), but it is not going to mean the end of EVE when it doesn't. We all are smarter than this.
I am putting it here for the devs to read so they can think about it. Nothing will change on the side of the players however. |

If someone lays a bounty on an alliance or corporation and they all disband will the bounty follow those players?
I recommend a system where if a bounty is placed on an alliance, and the alliance disbands then the bounty is dispersed to all members.
This could be problematic if half the members are alts, but you can only have so many alts per account and if someone recycles a toon with a bounty on it, it would be fair to have that bounty disperses among the remaining characters on the account. Just like that suicide gankers have to pay for their actions. Two birds with one stone. It's not a perfect system, but if someone's been a real bad boy they will be inundated with bounties. Afaik will bounties on alliances and corporations be returned to you once they disband/close. Having bounties automatically divided and distributed onto the members may not be what everybody would want. The way it is going to be implemented allows you place the bounty again on whoever you want to place it on then, or you might find a better use for the ISKs at that point and be glad that it wasn't divided. |

DevBlog wrote: [...] bounties can now be placed on anyone, weGÇÖre removing the -1 security standing requirement currently in the bounty system.
Why this? Someone who never played offensive and just wants to play WITHOUT beeing a pirat, ganker or a$$hole and just wants to fly his missions, build ships or mines will now get bountys. WHY? You state that: CCP Punkturis wrote: I don't see how that's different than just ganking him over and over without the bounty?
When there is no diference .. why this option to anonymous griefe a person with a positive security rating with bounty who never did criminal acts? I never did criminals acts because I never wanted a bounty! Now every player is able to add an bounty to me although I never did harm him/her. I thought that the bounty system is administrated from CONCORD; the police in EVE. But now even good players will get bounties just for fun. THAT makes no sense. Keep the option to place bountys to REAL CRIMINALS with negative security rating .. not to someone who never played like an a$$hole! I believe (I have faith!) that people will mostly be putting bounties on people that annoy them, not just random people in local.. you can be a pretty annoying forum poster but a nice person in game so you might want to place bounty on that guy I think that if you're a nice person in general people are going to leave you alone that said, there are of course mean people that'll suicide gank anyone, with or without bounties but I'll also point out I'm not a game designer, I'm just a brogrammer Only for the sake of arguing, why would one want to throw good ISKs after an annoying forum poster? Annoying forum posters should be taken care of by your moderators. Don't make us police annoying forum posters. |

How will bounties work in combination with war declarations and mercenaries?
An example:
Corporation "Astros" is a group of miners with low fighting skills. They receive a bounty of 1B ISK onto their corporation. Corporation "Bountyhunters" now declare war on "Astros" to cash in on the bounty, having little to no losses and easy money. Corporation "Astros" opens the war for allies and finds a group of mercenaries to fight for them and so a new corporation "Mercs" enters into the war.
Does the corporation "Astros" still need to lose ships in order to get rid of the bounty even when corporation "Mercs" is losing ships in this war and are fighting for them? |
